I realize that this book will be interesting to a "niche" market, but that "niche" includes a very large number of people worldwide. Those who will greatly appreciate this book, like myself, are those who (1) love history, (2) particularly are interested in the history of the Church, and (3) find special joy in reading of the working of God in history, including not only a great deal of corrupt politics, debased personal lives, and scheming power figures in both Church and State, but especially those lives which shone with the brightness of evangelical zeal. There is much disinterest, even scorn, for the work of historians of past centuries, which I think is extremely regrettable. Jean Henri Merle d"Aubigne has been a great favorite of mine since I first read his "Life and Times of Martin Luther" in 1952. Those who do not look favorably on his strongly Protestant views may not always be pleased with his assessments, but I am convinced that there are a great many who will, if they will only "Take up and read!"Product details

I found it a tedious read. Good historical facts, but difficult for me to stay engaged.
Excellent exposé on why the reformation. Hopefully the Catholic hierarchy is not the same today?
