I'm a fan of Time Travel stories, and this one was likeable, although weak on the science aspect, I was happy to suspend disbelief to find out what she was going to do with the story line. The plot twists were predictable for the most part, but that didn't stop me from enjoying it and it was entertaining as a light read. I didn't relate to the shallowness of her younger self, but at least she recognized from her 30 something viewpoint that she had been seriously self-absorbed and had matured beyond that stage. While I appreciate the author's intent to demonstrate how a disability does not mean the end of a happy and satisfying sex life, I think some readers will feel a little uncomfortable with how detailed the encounters were played out, but the lesson is a good one on several levels for mature young adults. I appreciate the author's offering it for free on Amazon for a day. This one is a good example of her style.

The Time Traveler Boyfriend eBook Annabelle Costa Reviews
I love time travel books, so when I saw a deal on this book, I jumped on it. The cover looks a little cheesy, and I wasn't sure if I would like it after reading the first few pages. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the story really engaged me and I ended up liking it a lot. I tend to take some time to finish a book because I am so busy, but this book kept me interested enough to finish it in a couple days. I liked the love story aspect, as well as the time travel parts, which were well thought out. My only complaint is how the author used the term "eating out" to refer to oral sex. It just seemed crude in a book that was not otherwise crude. It didn't bother me enough to stop me from reading the book, though. Overall, a great book.
This is an easily digestible story about two people destined to live out a boldly unique love story. The two main characters, Claudia and Adam, are super likeable and you can easily root for their happy ending. It helps that Claudia's character is older (mid-thirties) and just jaded enough that her sarcasm and general distaste for immaturity and BS comes across as understandable, endearing and real.
While the basics of the plot are... pretty cheesy, the author does a good job of keeping the reader cheering for Claudia to succeed and appreciating her her simple desire to "fix things" for the man she loves.
I had the plot twist pegged from about 25% in, but that didn't stop me from wanting to see how it all turned out!
SPOILER My only "yeah right!" thoughts upon finishing the book... there's no freakin' way that 2013 Claudia would just totally forget about "the attractive woman who stayed at her parents apartment" or especially walking out on a blind date with a guy in a wheelchair. I think having young Claudia refuse the date or never having a real interaction with Adam would have been much more fitting. Also, the cover is awful! -/
All in all, a nice, quick, doesn't-require-a lot-of-brain-power-but-worth-the-time read.
Would you travel back in time to help the one you loved? This is a story that makes you wonder about all the things that could go wrong.
Claudia is dating Adam. He is in a wheelchair due to an accident from his past. He latest project is to create a time machine … to stop him from being stuck in a wheelchair.
Although Claudia and Adam have a great relationship, there are things in the past that prevent Adam to fully committing to more than they have at this time. No marriage or living together, which causes Claudia to be disappointed & angry at times.
”I just wish I had met him before The Bitch ruined him for good.”
Once Adam completes the time machine, “I need you to go through the wormhole,” he says to me in a low voice. “And I need you to stop me from getting hit by the car.”
From this point, Claudia has to decide if she will do this for Adam. Will it be worth it? What if it changes everything between them?
The main characters are complete, but some of the extras could use more than a gloss over … more depth.
The idea around the story is well thought out.
I believe this is the 1st book I have read written by Ms. Costa. If her creativity is as good in her other books, they will prove to be a good read (as well).
I wasn't sure what to expect when I came across this book as a free trial offer. Sci-fi and/or paranormal is hit or miss with me. If the story is good and I get lost in it, then the genre isn't as important, and I can accept things that are a bit out in left field - like a time machine. Maybe they will exist some day, or even today, but are hidden in a mysterious research lab somewhere. But this story was well written enough that I was able to accept that a guy tinkering around with physics in the spare room of his home, with no specialized training or support staff was able to successfully build a time machine with such exact precision.
Although some other reviewers seem to feel this was written for a YA (Young Adult) audience, I thought it was rather realistically portraying the thoughts and actions of the characters at their different ages. Yes, Claudia made some dumb moves, said things she shouldn't have, made mistakes, but considering she was time traveling - well, there really isn't a lot of direction for how to behave when you are dealing with a dozen years or so in a different time. I especially appreciate that editing seemed to be well done - none of the spelling errors, simple grammar mistakes etc that often plague version books.
Maybe it was too late at night for me to be dealing with the mental logistics of what happened in the past, and the reveal of how it affected "today" at the end of the book, and I intend to re-read the last couple of chapters to pigeonhole the events. But the ending was neatly wrapped up, and the epilogue tied it up with a bow. Well done.
While I appreciate the author's intent to demonstrate how a disability does not mean the end of a happy and satisfying sex life, I think some readers will feel a little uncomfortable with how detailed the encounters were played out, but the lesson is a good one. Other than that warning, I would recommend this for anyone looking for something just a little out of the standard cookie cutter plots. 4+ stars!
