2.5 Stars. Normally I like all of Cynthia Eden's books. I know exactly what I'm going to get and I enjoy them. However, I struggled with the heroine of this one and that made it difficult for me.

I really liked Julian in book one and that didn't change in this book. I loved his protectiveness and even his possessiveness of Rose. I could even understand Rose being upset that he changed her without asking her permission (of course she was dead so that was a bit hard to do). I just thought she was kind of wimpy for the first half of the book and her belief that all paranormals were evil was just silly. That's like believing all humans are good. She knew Julian and saw him as a really good guy before he revealed himself so to instantly decide he was evil just didn't work for me. Rose was obviously in danger so her reluctance to accept help was just stupid as well. In fact most of her actions drove me crazy until the last 1/3 of the book when she finally accepts herself as a vampire.

I did enjoy the quick glimpse of Luke and seeing Rayce in this book and I'm looking forward to the book with Rayce and the angel they rescued.

So while this one didn't really work as well for me I'm not giving up on this series.

On The Prowl Bad Things Book 2 edition by Cynthia Eden Romance eBooks Reviews

I loved the first book in the series and was eager to read this one. While I am not sorry that I read this book, it is not a reread for me. I liked that Julian and Rose were celibate during the separation. I always hesitate to read second chance romances because many times the hero and sometimes the heroine, have smex with OP while apart. I want the hero and heroine to be each others lasts after having smex. To me it hurts a romance when they are with OP after being with each other, making it less special. I always think how great could it have been if he and or she can move on and be intimate with OP. While I can handle it if it is both of them who have smex with OP too often the hero gets pleasure from OW while the heroine stays chaste and that is never ok with me.

Julian and Rose were likable characters and it was apparent in their words and actions that they loved each other. However, IMO there was not enough romance in the story and they did not spend enough time togeher. Also the story dragged in parts and I kept putting it down, reading other books in between.
I really enjoyed thus book! I liked Julian from book one & I liked getting to know him even better & see the reason for hit moodiness. I really liked Rose as well. I was disappointed that Luke wasn't in the story until late & was even more so that Mina merely got a mention. It would've been nice to see them on page together. From a writing standpoint the passive voice/word choice was a constant irritation that pulled me out of book alot but the story was good enough for me to want book 3. I love Rayce so much.
Rose distrust of Julian started to get on my nerves, that's why I took away half a star. She was so focused on her conversion that she didn't appreciate all that he had sacrificed for her. She was seeing him as a monster, forgetting the feelings they had for each other before she found out the he is not human. Her woe is me, I'm undead attitude needed to change. She needs to get over it and deal. Julian does not care deeply about anyone but her. To everyone else, he is a heartless monster and will kill them without breaking a sweat. This was a good addition to the series. We also see in this book that Leo (the good twin) is actually just as bad as Luke (the bad twin). So everything is not in black and white. Each twin does what needs to be done to protect their own, whether they are light (good) or dark (evil). Looks like Rayce gets his story next, I can't wait. I hope the gargoyle gets a story also.
Cynthia Eden is one of my favorite writer's for the very same reason I gave the book 4 stars. The author does an excellent job with character development, incorporating twists and turns, laugh-out-loud funny dialogue, and steamy sex. Yes, steamy. I really enjoyed On The Prowl, the second book in the Bad Things series. I actually stayed up until the early morning to finish reading because once I started, there just wasn't a good place to stop. A confession, Rayce had me laughing so much, that I am looking forward to reading book three "Broken Angel". Okay, Luke kept me laughing as well. On The Prowl is fast paced with a lot of action, witty dialogue, and overall a great storyline. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Tex.
Action, blood, death and paranormals galore? Oh my! I freaking love how Eden writes her paranormal romances. Do much going on and I cannot ever put the book down, until I'm done. This is the story of our beautiful Julian the panther and his mate, the very love of his life , Rose. On the night when Julian decides to tell her the truth about himself, his enemies attack, and Rose dies in the process. Then Julian makes a deal with devil and ends up losing her in the process. Rose is now a vampire and is not happy about it all.
In the end there is a evil mastermind who is collecting paranormals to "make" his deceased wife come back to life. Talk about psycho much? Lol. It was great and I adore Luke so freaking much! Glad he made a famous appearance and got his brother, Leo his twin, a little bit of a payback for not being so good after all. Julian and Rose get their HE A! 4.5 stars.
The devil who just may turn out to be the good guy, the Lord of Light who does more harm than good, two factions of good and evil beings who just may be more alike than they are different, what's not to like? Julian made a deal with the devil to bring his love back from the dead and he's been torturing himself about it ever since. Rose didn't choose to become a vampire, but now that she is one can she choose to embrace her new life and the man who gave up everything for her? Julian and Rose have an awesome story but they nearly miss their happily ever after because they are both too hung up on the past. Once again, the humans prove to be more monstrous than the monsters. I also get the distinct impression that Luke and Leo might have been switched at birth. It will be interesting to see if this pattern continues, so I guess that I'll have to read the next book to find out.
